Douliu Hashers and friends met on August 21 to enjoy Douliu Hash #13 and pogo amongst the pagodas. DDT once again served as hares, but we are looking forward to KTV & KFCs hare run next month! If you get a chance, be sure to thank DDT for another excellent trail and the work he puts into the hash.
The trail was rather flat and meandered through the countryside just outside of Douliu.
Much of the trail went through fields, but there were a few excursions through bush and over old railway tracks. The trail also included several abandoned parks and pagodas. It was as if the city of Douliu had made plans for a large community, had built pagodas and installed lamps first, then decided to quit altogether and let it get run over with grass and weeds.
-DOWN DOWN-
The down down started off with SGT welcoming DDT up to drink for another successful hare run (that makes 106 hare runs in Taiwan?). After that, DDT took over and welcome up anyone that had left the island since the last hash. There were several, including Absolute, who went home to West Virginia, Silvernuts, iPodAlong, who had visited the Philippines, 2nd timer Chris, and 2nd timer Tom.
We had several 1st timers in attendance. Andreas from Mexico and his Taiwanese girlfriend Jennifer joined us, as did Christa and Bun from South Africa. Finally, there was also Joel from France, who is working with Brussel Sprout.
2nd timers included the aforementioned Chris and Tom as well as Jay, who recently quit her job and may not be returning for another hash. 🙁
Finally, we had two 3rd timers who needed names: Zoe and Sara. Given her penchant for pleasing the German engineers who have passed through Douliu, she was named Schnitzel Swallower and, hopefully, will live up to that name on the hash. Sara was a bit more difficult to name. We knew she had an Italian background. We also knew she had a hard time not talking. In a moment of (drunken?) inspiration, 2nd timer Tom came up with the name Cunnilinguini, a name which Sara shall proudly wear forever on the Douliu Hash.
Hashit nominations were next up. iPodAlong had the ladies hashit stolen from him at the beginning of the down down and had to drink for it. After that he nominated KTV for shortcutting (which she apparently didn’t do), and 1st timers Bun and Christa for being hardcore. Weak nominations since that is all perfectly acceptable behavior on the hash, but Christa won the vote and claimed the women’s hashit, which promptly disappeared into orifices unknown.
KFC also had the men’s hashit stolen from him by KTV and proceeded to call her a traitor and claim that her thievery was an act of treason. His lamentations went unacknowledged and he drank for letting the prize slip from his grasp. Afterwards, he nominated iPodAlong for “wearing the most ridiculous sunglasses I have ever seen.” He also nominated 2nd timer Christ for “wearing the second-most ridiculous sunglasses I have every seen.” Finally, he nominated KTV for being a traitor and stealing his hashit. DDT saw fit to offer a 4th nomination due to such weak nominations and KFC was again awarded the men’s hashit.
-GENERAL PENALTIES-
At this point, we ran out of beer and DDT had to do a run. Several general penalties were not recorded due to SGT filling in as co-head. Searching his alcohol-addled memory, however, he seems to recall that Rommel Router had a double nomination for Motor Mouth and hisself, for doing excellent trailmarking and having such a weak nomination, respectively. As expected, Motor Mouth and Rommel Router shared a drink.
Someone then nominated 1st timers Bun and Christa. Apparently, Christa had asked a passing scooter driver to pick up her friend Bun and drive her a few hundred meters along the trail. Given such a serious hash felony, Bun had to drink. However, Bun was charged with aiding and abetting in said felony and also had a drink.
After DDT returned with more beer, SGT nominated Nurse Ratched and 1st Timer Kirsten for wearing new shoes on the hash. Absolut was nominated for having bright blue toenail polish. Additionally, 2nd timer Chris nominated SGT for not wearing his toeshows (Vibram Fivefingers).
Several quiet down downs were handed out to 2nd timer Tom, 1st timer Joel, Brussel Sprout, Nurse Ratched, 1st timer Kirsten, and Motor Mouth (imagine that!).
DDT gave Nurse Ratched a down down for wearing too much bling bling on the hash (her shoes, jewelry, and fingernails).
Tittie Tonic nominated Bush Diving Boer for having shit on his shoulder. Motor Mouth then nominated 2nd timer Tom for having shit on his shoulder. Everyone quickly checked their shoulders for shit before the down down continued.
2nd timer Chris had a penalty for actually saying O-M-F-G (speaking the letters out instead of saying “Oh my fucking god!”).
DDT gave 1st timer Bun a penalty for having a full moon on her shorts. However, he made her a deal. If she would show her full moon, he would drink. If she refused, she would have to drink. Feeling frisky, she did indeed show her full moon (and again later) and DDT lived up to his bargain and drank.
-ANNOUNCEMENTS-
KTV & KFC have a room(s) for rent in their apartment. Fairly cheap (NT$3000?) and you will probably get to see KFC naked.
Cunnilinguini announced that she and several friends, including Bun and Christa, were going to do the Sun Moon Lake swim on September 12. If you are interested, they will be getting a hotel room to do the swim in the morning.
SGT announced that if anyone has any pictures of the hash, they can e-mail or otherwise get them to him and he will post them on the web. He also announced that the Douliu Hash has their very first t-shirts available, thanks to the hard work of Moaning Grinder. We are taking pre-orders and there are samples at Roxy’s Bar. Please try on the samples and let SGT, DDT, or one of the bartenders know your size and how many you want. Expected price is NT$300-350, but the more we order, the cheaper they will be. DDT said he will buy a shirt for Douliu hashers, but since the idea is to generate income for the hash, donations would be welcome.
DDT’s friend Perry Beam will be playing the piano at the Dick and Cowboy Bar in Kaohsiung on Saturday night. All who are interested in going, contact DDT. Also on Saturday will be the Kaohsiung Hash Bash (Run #2200). The Hash Bash does not have a maximum length, however it won’t be too hard because it is summer. Anyone interested in carpooling contact DDT.
Finally, DDT announced the Kaohsiung Hash would be having their Family Weekend Away in Douliu on Nov. 6 and 7. This is a Saturday and Sunday run and will be hared by DDT. As such, there may be 3 hashes in November, including our regular 3rd-Saturday run. More details as it develops.
