Douliu Hash #32 Run Report

Douliu Hash #32 was held on March 31st. We got luck with some beautiful weather and enjoyed a trail that wound its way through the hills of Huashan before finishing up at the Literary Park. A close call for our hare, DDT – Cuntry BushWhacker was only 7 minutes behind him at the finish!

After celebrating DDT’s narrow victory as a successful hare, we invited our newcomers up for a drink. As usual, we had several first timers, including Mellena, Lorena, Adam, Juliana, Jeff, and Ken. Second timers included John, Rachel, Michelle, Wally, Roxy, and Sara. Finally, we had one third timer, Annie Huang. We were going to call her L.A. Woman, but in the end, for whatever reason, we noticed that her name sounded a lot like “Anyone,” so we went with that. So if you see “Anyone” on the Douliu Hash, congratulate her and welcome her into the dysfunctional family.

BudaPoes and One Thumbs Up both had a hard time coming up with nominations for the hashits and spend a few rounds enjoying some drinks before they came up with a few very weak nominations. In the end, SGT suggested they keep the hashits and the rest of the hash concurred wholeheartedly. They shall carry the hashits proudly next month.

-ANNOUNCEMENTS-
The 2012 AIR hash is coming up on June 16. This will be Taichung’s 600th hash and the 5th AIR hash. It will be in the Guguan area. SGT will be going up if you need a ride. We’ll need to be there by 12:00 to sign in and the run will start at 1:00. Cost is NT$850 and that includes a swag bag, drinks, dinner, live music, and everything else. You can expect about 600 hashers from all over Taiwan to converge and enjoy three trails and lots of down downs later on. If you are interested, let SGT know by April 30. Next month will be your LAST CHANCE to sign up and get a swag bag.

Roxy’s “Shake-a-day” pot is now over 31,000 dollars. Roll 5-of-a-kind and win 80% of that pot!

-GENERAL PENALTIES-
There were lots of penalties – good and weak – being thrown around this time. Crampee Buxibum called up all the Americans for a drink and celebrated because it was the first time “we” had outnumbered the South Africans! A short-lived, but sweet, victory.

John and Wally shared a drink like good communists for bearing the Red Star upon their chests. Mexican Dope, as usual, had a hard time naming people for down downs and enjoyed several himself for name abuse. First timer Jeff enjoyed his first down down for being the “fastest hasher” – hashing less than 24 hours after he set foot in Taiwan!

There was the usual whistle check (many unprepared hashers! Grab your whistles and chalk at the start!) and hashit check (Shame on One Thumbs Up for losing it again!). DDT even enjoyed a down down or two for forgetting the patches and the real women’s hashit. Here’s to hoping he won’t forget again next month.

Next month’s hash will be on April 28. Mark your calendars. We’ll probably be hashing in Chiayi, so stay tuned to get the details on where and when to meet up.

ON ON!
