Douliu Hash #22 Run Report

Douliu Hash 22 turned out be longer than most expected, ending up at around 10km. Fortunately, it was a rather flat through the countryside of Linnei and Citong.

After letting the hares, DDT and Paddy McGroin, celebrate their successful run (Great virgin hare run, Paddy!), we welcomed several new first timers, many joining us from the Taichung Hash, to our hash – Shani, Angela, Karen, Comrag, Catheran, Pla, Nicky, and Colon Howl. There were also several second timers – Joy, Stefan, Malcom, Nicole, Charl, and Taichung’s MooseKnuckle. Finally, we had three 3rd timers who got their names.

I officiated the naming the committee, but I am not taking responsibility for these names. For reasons still unclear to me, Bobby was given the name Slappy McBetelnut. Karla, given her prevalence for sweatpants and flip-flops and her boisterous patriotism, was named Union Chav, which is something like an English redneck. Finally, Tom was named Galactic Fanatic for his love of Sci-Fi.

Both hashits were stolen earlier in the down down, so iPod did not have the men’s hashit, nor did SGT have the lady’s hashit. iPod did come up with four nominations, including MotorMouth’s driver (what did he do or not do?), but I believe iPod retained the hashit in the end. SGT came up with 3 nominations for the ladies hashit, which Union Chav easily won.

-ANNOUNCEMENTS-
If anyone has any pictures from the hash, please leave a comment with your email and I will contact you. WE NEED PICTURES!

Next hash in June 18. It’s the Two year anniversary run. It will be on the THIRD Saturday. We’re moving it just this ONE TIME because…

June 25 (that’s the fourth Saturday) will be Tuna’s 999th run in Kaohsiung. Several of us will be going down and probably spending the night. Should be a good run and a great party. If you need a ride, let us know.

The Taichung Hash is the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Saturday of every month. If you are interested, get to the McDonald’s (麥當勞) on WenXin Road (文心路二段) , just south of TaiZhongGang Road, by 1 p.m.

Additionally, July 2nd will be the CanAm run in Taichung. If you have a Saturday free, head out hashing. I’m sure they’d love to have you.

The Taiwan AIR run is THIS SATURDAY, June 11. SGT will be going… probably alone. If you are interested, contact him immediately. NT$900 will get you a great trail, tons of beer, and lots of hashing friends from all over Taiwan.

-GENERAL PENALTIES-
The General Penalties are becoming harder to officiate and even harder to keep a record of, so here is what I can make sense of out of my scribblings.

There were several clothing down downs, among them Stefan for wearing a rugby shirt but never having played rugby, and Charl for once again wearing a shirt that promotes communism. Dirty Rodriquez/Colon Howl gave a down down to Galactic Fanatic for being a closet klepto and stealing his hat. Union Chav was given several down downs for just being a chav, taking too long (Why are we waiting…?), and asking too many questions/being ignorant.

Oddly, Slappy McBetelnut was given a congratulatory down down for good shortcutting. DDT, however, was nominated for bad trailmarking – a nomination that didn’t work out for Stefan, who ended up drinking after insulting the Lead Hare and Hash Grandmaster.

Paddy McGroin called for a whistle check and several hashers were caught whistle-less.

It also turned out to be a rather dirty hash. Colon Howl called out Trailerpark Cocktail and our own DDT for their hygienic disgustiness. Mexican Dope, as well, was seen drinking/washing himself from the hydrant filling up the rice fields. The hash, however, was in agreement that it was the closest thing Mexican Dope had had to a shower recently and was therefore a good thing.

Finally, we said goodbye to our fearless hasher and sometimes hare, iPodAlong. He and his girlfriend French Twist are returning to Canada. Here’s wishing them a safe trip and hoping we meet up again in this hash or the next.

Next hash is June 18th. This is the TWO YEAR ANNIVERSARY RUN. DDT is putting a trail together in the mountains to celebrate (a short trail, but uphill/downhill). See you there. ON ON!
