Douliu Hash #17 Run Report

Douliu Hash #17 was run on December 18, 2010. It was a rather flat, yet scenic, trail that took us, according to iPodAlong, “the entire way around Douliu.” Here’s a picture an an interactive map of the trail.

As usual, we started off with have DDT drink for another wonderful trail (we really need more hares – more on that in a minute).

Four Stiff had a drink for leaving the island (twice) since the last hash. There were two first timers, Luke and Li, two second timers, Hugo and Ryan, and one third timer, Arjam. Given that he’s only been in Douilu for about 4 months and has been jumping from bed to bed with the frequency of a cheap ham radio, we were all quite jealous. Give his conquests, both in quantity and quality, we blessed him with the Douliu Hash name S.T.D. May he wear it well and spread it throughout the land upon his return to Holland.

Absolut had the women’s hashit (sort of) and after much confusion and weak nominations, ended up with it again. STD had the men’s hashit and successfully passed it on to iPodAlong, who after wandering astray the last several months, was apparently too scared to get lost.

-ANNOUNCEMENTS-
Douliu hash 2010 T-Shirts are still available. They are NT$350 each and we have all sizes in stock. These were meant to be a way for the has to actually make some income and so far has failed wonderfully in doing that. Do your part – buy an awesome shirt, wear it proudly, and sometime in the future we can have more designs made.

Brussel Sprout announced that he and Nurse Scratchid are engaged and will be moving back to Belgium. BS will be moving back on January 1st (his contract is finished) but will be returning in February for an wedding banquet, after which Nurse Scratchid will join him. If you happen to see them before New Years, give them a hearty congratulations, buy them a round, and tell them to pay their Romance Tax to Roxy’s.

DDT announced that if you want to have warm clothes at the down-down, bring them to Roxy’s Bar the night before and he will have it loaded in his car and ready for you when you finish.

DDT also announced that the trail we ran for Hash #17 was very flat and very easy, yet still very nice. He said he did this on purpose to show how easy it is to go out and find a trail (hint hint, future hares). It took him approximately 90 minutes, mostly on his motorcycle, to put the trail together, and I personally don’t think anyone was unsatisfied with the result. If you have some time, get out, get exploring, find a trail. The Hash is willing to move to Chiayi or Tainan or elsewhere for one day to get a nice trail. We are not fixed in Douliu. DDT would also be happy to serve an advisory role on any trails you want checked out, so get out there and find some trails!

-GENERAL PENALTIES-
SGT started off the GPs with a limerick about our head, DDT.

In Douliu there’s a Dirty Dick:
A boor who is really quite sick.
A gash on his head,
“The Hash goes on!” he said,
and dove into the bush like a prick.

Absolut had a down down for iPod but was unable to articulate herself clearly and ended up getting a double.
STD called out iPodAlong for not knowing what the hashit was for, but got called on a weak nomination and had to drink.
DDT called out STD on wearing new shoes to the hash.
Moaning Grinder called for a hashit check to discover that iPod had erstwhile lost the men’s hashit to Brussel Sprout.
Absolut was awarded her 10 run patch. On on to 20 runs!
SGT entertained the crowd with another limerick about our favorite Belgian.

Brussel Sprout’s marrying the Scratchid Nurse.
Don’t say that marriage is a curse,
for it was the Douliu Hash
That brought about this romantic match.
All in all, I think we could have done worse.

Brussel Sprout was also awarded his Douliu Hash 10 run patch (he actually has 13 runs).
Finally, we had a thirsty down down to make sure everyone had something to drink. By that time, it was getting quite cool, so we packed up and headed out for an amazing meal at a restaurant not too far away.

On on to next month!
